MarQuese D Liddle, MFA

Instructor of Creative Writing | Wheeling University

MarQuese D. Liddle is a full-time Professor of Creative Writing at Wheeling University and the author of the Wand Smoke fantasy series:—novels, novellas, and short stories that mix Jungian archetypes, eastern philosophy, and hermetic mythology into transformative fiction.

A proud husband and father, MarQuese still calls the Ohio Valley home. He was raised on a tiny island in the middle of the river—the same wild isle that fuels the magic in his books. He earned his MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Tampa, where he honed a voice that bridges classic literature and pulp fiction with a hip-hop cadence.

Through his fiction, his long-running blog on philosophy & religion, and his eclectic classroom workshops, MarQuese is on a mission to prove that stories can elevate mankind’s vision. His students leave his courses not just as better writers, but as braver dreamers.

When he’s not teaching, writing, or sword fighting with his kids, you’ll find him running rings around the island or with his bald head in a book—because for MarQuese, every great story starts with a single question:

“What if your dream was really real?”
